Windgill

Windgill Cottage,
Nr Biggar,
Lanarkshire

Sleeps 4 + child

Windgill Cottage is located on Birthwood Farm in the high hills bordering Lanarkshire and Peeblesshire just 3 miles from the village of Coulter (good pub/restaurant) and 7 miles from Biggar (restaurants, shops, interesting museums). It is one of the most sought-after cottages in the south of Scotland, tucked away all on its own in glorious hill country at the side of a very quiet farm (tarmac) road that leads only to a reservoir.

It is a traditional stone-built, comfortably but simply furnished, former shepherd's cottage, approached via a small bridge over a stream at its front, and with high rounded green hills rising in tiers at its rear. From the sitting-room window you can enjoy an uninterrupted view of unspoilt hill country without a house in sight; and many visitors choose to stay-put, 'unwinding', with their feet up by the open-fire, even although the many local excursions are tempting.

Easily accessible from the fast M74, it is convenient for excursions to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Moffat and Peebles - all about 45 minutes by car (and thence quickly to points further north and west) and there is excellent walking from the cottage; fishing on the River Clyde (permits available); four good golf-courses within easy radius; and fine bird-watching.

Heating is by open fire and electricity. Bed-linen is included!included and towels may be hired. Most pets are welcome but we regret NO CATS. All the beds have electric blankets
