Set in a dramatic West Highland landscape just 10 miles south of Fort William (all facilities, leisure centre, golf etc), and close to Loch Linnhe with the sweeping mountains of Morvern beyond, Swallow Cottage is a delightful holiday cottage which has just been completely refurbished to a very high standard. The cottage is a lovely conversion of an old stone steading, just a field away from the water's edge. Inside, there is lots of lovely light natural wood; the new kitchen is very well fitted and equipped; it is open plan to the dining area and a sitting area, and stairs go up to a further most attractive galleried sitting room with TV/V. Both the double bedrooms are downstairs, and have en suite facilities.

The small village of Onich (shops/hotels) is a short walk from the cottage. Brooding Glencoe, with its wonderful walking and climbing opportunities, is just down the road. Visitors can take the little Corran Ferry, a mile or so away (no booking necessary) over to the Ardnamurchan peninsula and proceed thence to Mull via the Lochaline Ferry (again, no booking necessary). It's all do-able in a day. Alternatively, from Fort William, the famous West Highland Steam Railway traces the Road to the Isles along Loch Shiel, where Prince Charlie raised his standard for the '45 Rebellion, and on to the end of the line at Mallaig. The famous silver sands of Morar and Arisaig (45m) are perfect heaven on a fine day, and there is an excellent links golf course there at Traigh.

To the south, there is riding near Port Appin, go-karting at Benderloch, and a Sea Life Centre and rare Breeds Park just north of Oban (38m). There are plenty of boat trips from Fort William up Loch Shiel or down Loch Linnhe to see the basking seals.

Heating is by oil fired central heating (included). Bed linen is included and towels are available for hire. Sorry, no pets or smokers.
