Otter Point is a wonderful house 12 miles west of Lochgilphead and to the south of the village of Tayvallich (shop/pub/restaurant) on the famous west coast of Scotland. The setting, just above the shoreline of Loch Sween, is magnificent with views over to the Knapdale hills and down to the loch where otters run. This is, above all, prime yachting country and from the splendour of Otter Point's excellent accommodation and situation you can look down onto Tayvallich harbour and observe the comings and goings of the many yachts on their way to and from the Inner and Outer Hebrides.

This is a large and roomy house for a total of 8 people. It is beautifully appointed and is set within its own garden (furniture/barbecue). There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms (two ensuite), a private indoor heated swimming-pool, Jacuzzi and sauna, and grounds which lead down to a slipway and mooring available to visitors at their own risk.

The Forestry Commission has established walks of differing degrees of difficulty in this most beautiful area where wildlife flourishes. A single-track road runs south from Tayvallich ending up at the ruins of the Chapel of Keills and Danna Island. West from Tayvallich and just over the hill is the tiny hamlet of Carsaig which enjoys breathtaking views across the Sound to the Paps of Jura. 9 miles north is the pretty fishing port of Crinan right at the western end of the Crinan Canal. Here you will find an excellent hotel (renowned for its seafood, picturesque setting and superb sunsets). Lochgilphead itself (12m) has hotels and shops and stands at the crossroads to Oban (visit here to take a day trip to Mull or Iona), the prehistoric monuments at Dunadd, Inveraray on Loch Fyne, and the Mull of Kintyre.

Heating by Gas-CH (included) and open-fire. £75 worth of electricity is included. Bed-linen and towels included. Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted within the house. A refundable householder's deposit of £250 is requested. Lets FRIDAY-FRIDAY.
