Oronsay Cabin
Strontian
Argyll
Sleeping 5
Oronsay is a high quality log cabin built from solid whole Scandinavian pines and occupying a breathtaking position looking down Loch Sunart, about 20 miles south-west of Fort William, via the Corran Ferry (no booking necessary), on Scotland's beautiful west coast.
Double glazed, refurbished and furnished by its new owners to a very comfortable standard, it offers delightful and informal accommodation for up to five people. It sits in its own patch of private garden (furniture) from where you can enjoy these stunning views.
The area is one of Scotland's loveliest. It is great walking country, there is wildlife in abundance - the Ariundle Nature Reserve, just 2 miles away, offers activities, courses and a restaurant. The little village of Strontian (after which the element strontium, first discovered there, is named), has a shop, hotels and a snack bar and is within walking distance of Oronsay. A 20 mile drive down to Lochaline will take you to the little car ferry which plies back and forward to Mull (again no booking necessary), so a day trip there is easily feasible with a minimum of planning. Or, in the other direction, you can drive out through glorious scenery to Ardnamurchan (31m), the most westerly point of mainland Britain, where there is a lighthouse to visit and a sandy beach at Sanna (there are others closer at Kentra above Salen.). For serious shopping, sports centres and a golf course, the nearest option is Fort William.
Heating is by electric central heating and all electricity is
included from April to October. Bed linen and towels are
included. Sorry, not dogs or smokers.
