The Old Schoolhouse
Near Achiltibuie
West Coast of Scotland
Sleeps 5
At Achduart, set in magnificent mountain and maritime scenery just 200 yards from the sea and some 4 miles from the village of Achiltibuie (shops, petrol, renowned Summer Isles Hotel/Restaurant) which is north-west of Ullapool.
Facing south, with views across to The Summer Isles and Dundonell Mountains, it stands alone, surrounded by garden boasting many fine azaleas and rhododendrons - an old Victorian stone-built house which is equipped and maintained to a high standard. There are small ponds in the garden, so supervision is necessary with children.
It is a lovely peaceful place from which to explore the mountains, lochs, beaches and moorlands of this remote and beautiful part of Scotland. Here whales, seals, deer, and golden eagles can sometimes be seen in their natural habitat, while many seabirds and the garden can be enjoyed from the sun-room. The comfortable sitting-room was the former schoolroom to which children had had to walk 2 - 4 miles along the coast each way, in the olden days to get their education.
Oil central-heating, fuel, electricity, bed-linen and towels are all
included. Pets are usually welcome by prior arrangement. No smoking.
