The Old Manse
Minard
by Inveraray

Sleeping 8

The Old Manse stands on the outskirts of the little village of Minard, just a few miles south of Inverary, on the shores of Loch Fyne. It is an impressive and traditional Victorian house probably built to cater for the large families which ministers used to have in those days! There are large gardens (furniture, barbecue) both in front and to the rear of the house making it perfect for children and pets. The beautiful views of the loch and distant hills add to its attraction as a roomy, comfortable and, most of all, family-friendly holiday home.

The inside has been furbished and fitted out to a high standard ensuring that modern comfort goes hand in hand with maintaining traditional style. There are two sitting rooms, in one of which there is an open fire, a dining room and a well-equipped kitchen. A downstairs double bedroom and shower room are convenient for those who may have difficulty with stairs. Upstairs there are three further bedrooms, an enormous bathroom and another shower room. The Old Manse will certainly provide you with first class holiday accommodation.

As for the surrounding countryside, the loch is on the other side the road and there is a marina nearby. For more active visitors there is fishing and stalking on Loch Awe or walking beside the loch or in the neighbouring hills. Others may be quite happy just to relax and enjoy the house and garden.

The village of Inverary is not too far away and is a popular tourist centre with its castle and jail being particular attractions (don't miss the treadmill at the jail). There is a selection of shops, restaurants and a golf course. You can also ride in the locality.

Garden lovers will be pleased to hear that the National Trust Gardens at Crarae are close by and the Benmore Botanical Gardens are less than an hour's drive away. Lochgilphead and the Crinan Canal are only 20 minutes from the house.

If you wish to venture further north you can reach Oban in under an hour's drive. From there you can take a boat trip to Mull, Staffa, Iona and other islands. Alternatively, it will take you a matter of 40 minutes to reach the summer ferry to Arran or, for a smaller island, try visiting Gigha (more gardens!). You will find that there is plenty to do at the Old Manse and a week may not be quite long enough. This is a house which will remain in your memory for some time and which you will always want to return to.

Bed linen, towels, electricity and oil fired central heating are all included!included. Up to two well-behaved pets are very welcome (dog beds provided). Telephone.
