The seaside village of Avoch

The Old Fisherman's Cottage
Avoch,
Ross-shire

Sleeps 4/5

The Old Fisherman's Cottage is really very old - one of the original detached traditional stone fisherman's cottages right on the coast in the quaint conservation village of Avoch 10 miles north of Inverness and less than one mile south of the small Cathedral town of Fortrose (sandy beach, golf-links) on the peninsula called 'The Black Isle'. You step down into this cottage from the winding shore road, and from its postage-stamp 'shore garden' and its top windows, it has great south-facing views out across The Moray Firth where the famous schools of bottle-nosed dolphins can be seen.

Fisherman's Cottage Cosy and charming, and sympathetically furnished with today's comforts, it makes an ideal holiday cottage. It has the shingle shore just over the garden wall - the little shops of this tiny working village are within easy walking distance - while by car, locally, you can easily discover Rosemarkie, the old town of Cromarty at the head of the peninsula, and all this unspoilt, historic, scenically-beautiful area. Further afield, the West Coast (Torridon, Gairloch, Ullapool area), the Moray Coast, Loch Ness - even Skye - can be visited.

Heating is by open-fire (starter pack included!included) and electric night-store heaters (£10 electricity included!included). Bed-linen and towels are included!included. No smoking. Pets are welcome.
