The Old Carriage House,
near Duns,
Berwickshire
Sleeps 4
The Old Carriage House is a delightful small house hidden off a country lane near the hamlet of cottages known as Edrom in Berwickshire just a couple of miles east of Duns, and 14 miles west of Berwick-upon-Tweed and the fast A1.
Standing detached in its own large enclosed garden (furniture), and originally built in the early 1800's as a barn to house the local Minister's horse and carriage, it has now been completely gutted and transformed into this very attractive, solid stone, bright and airy house - tastefully furnished and equipped to a high standard - which is ideal for two couples or a family.
From this base, as well as all the castles, houses and magnificent scenery of The Scottish Borders, visitors can also explore the historic (wonderfully sandy) Northumberland Coast, Holy Island (Lindisfarne), and Hadrian's Wall - while a visit to Edinburgh by train from Berwick-on-Tweed might be a welcome respite for the driver.
Heating is by electric night-store heaters (
included), and open-fire (some coal/wood
included). Bed-linen and towels are
included. Pets are welcome under control. Smoking is not allowed inside the house.
