Loch Leven Cottage

Scotland
Sleeping 5(6)
Loch Leven Cottage stands only a few minutes walk from historic Loch Leven close by the village of Kinnesswood and about 4 miles from Kinross (all facilities) in Fife. This attractive, detached farm cottage is set within its own extensive grass garden and has superb views across the valley to the Lomond Hills, which are dear to the hearts of walkers, parapunters and gliders!
The cottage has undergone modernisation and refurbishment to house up to six people. The bright and very comfortable accommodation includes king, queen and twin bedrooms, a cheerful living room with open fire, a well-equipped kitchen and the added bonus of a sunroom complete with pool table. Part of the garage can be used for storing bikes etc.
After settling in guests will have no problem finding interesting things to do as Loch Leven Cottage is very well positioned for visiting many of Scotland’s main attractions. It is only a few miles from the Edinburgh-Perth motorway with Edinburgh 28 miles to the south and Perth 20 miles to the north. East lies the Kingdom of Fife with its colourful fishing villages and historic St Andrews (28m). West lie Callander, the Trossachs and Loch Lomond, while north of Perth are the Highlands – all readily accessible in a day trip.
Closer to home, Loch Leven itself is an important attraction as it was from Loch Leven Castle, on an island in the middle of the loch, that Mary Queen of Scots made her exciting escape. There are boat trips here from Kinross with plenty of time on shore to explore the island. The loch is also well-known to trout fishermen and boats can be hired for fishing. Last, but not least, the loch is a SSSI with the RSPB reserve close by at Vane Farm. The reserve is particularly famous for the huge numbers of Pink Foot and Grey Lag Geese who perform amazing aerial displays as they take off from the loch in the winter mornings then return as spectacularly in the fading evening light. Loch Leven is home to a vast number of ducks, swans, waders and many other birds including osprey.
The cottage sits on a path which links the Loch Leven Heritage Trail with the Michael Bruce Way, both of which offer either undemanding walking or some gentle hills. The quiet roads and trails in the area will appeal to cyclists. As you cannot be in Fife without a golf course close by there is one within half a mile of the house and several others not more than five miles away.
There is no chance of being bored at Loch Leven Cottage!
Bed linen, towels and oil fired CH are
included. Private water supply. Well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. Sorry, no smoking in the cottage. Visitors with young children are advised that the cottage is very close to unfenced watercourses.
