Lochindaal House
Port Charlotte
Island of Islay
Sleeping 6
Lochindaal House started life as the Lighthouse Keeper's House for the Port Charlotte light on the Island of Islay - which lies off Scotland's south-west coast beyond the Island of Arran and The Mull of Kintyre and is reached daily by car/passenger ferry from Kennacriag on The Mull of Kintyre, and twice weekly from Oban.
The house has just undergone a major renovation both inside and out and is now a most comfortable desirable house which sits in its own 4 acres of land high above the shore, with a fabulous view over Loch Indaal to the Paps of Jura and the distant Scottish mainland. It is set back from the road leading to the distillery village of Bruichladdich - Islay boasts 7 whisky distilleries - about a ten-minute walk from the pretty Conservation Village of Port Charlotte (hotel/restaurants/PO Store), and about 12 miles from the village of Bowmore which boasts more shops (and another distillery).
Islay is a quiet paradise for bird-watching, walking, cycling (bicycles can be hired in the village), fishing, and has wonderful sandy beaches and an excellent links golf-course. The neighbouring Island of Jura is a 5-minute ferry ride away, and there is also a weekly day-trip to Colonsay to enjoy.
Heating is by electric storage heaters in every room. Bed-linen, towels and electricity are
included. Pets by arrangement. A refundable damage deposit may be required.
