At Little Laight you could rightly be forgiven for believing you'd come halfway to heaven! It stands quite alone, high on top of a hill above the little village of Cairnryan in Galloway, from where you can see all the way to Ireland, and watch the Seacats and ferries plying up and down Loch Ryan far below.

The cottage is newly built to an extremely high specification and is furnished and equipped to a similar standard; the owners really have tried to think of everything you could possibly want for a happy holiday. The light, bright sitting room has a flame effect electric stove to supplement the electric underfloor heating, which is powered whenever possible by the cottage's own private wind turbine. There is a most spacious state-of-the-art kitchen-diner. The master bedroom has an en suite bath/shower room and the two twin bedded rooms share a further bathroom between them with access from each.

There is a ramp to the front door and the house is all on one level, making it very suitable for those of limited mobility.

Outside, there is ample parking, secure storage and a seating area where you can relax with an evening drink and take in the glorious view. The other buildings in the picture are outbuildings and not other cottages - you will be quite alone up there! One of them has now been converted into a games room with table football and darts board..

During the day, there is plenty to do in this delightful corner of Scotland. There are some splendid beaches nearby; garden enthusiasts can visit the Botanic gardens at Port Logan and other famous sites at Threave and Castle Kennedy. Experienced and novice golfers will find 8 excellent courses within a 20 mile radius. (A half hour drive will take you up the coast to Turnberry or beyond to Royal Troon. While there, take in historic Culzean Castle).

To the south, explore the Rhinns of Galloway, perhaps stopping for lunch at pretty Portpatrick. Portpatrick is the start of the Southern Upland Way, so walkers too will find their needs well catered for.

To the north west of the cottage is the Galloway Forest Park. Glen Trool is a particularly attractive part of this, where both mountain bikers and walkers can pursue their activities in lovely surroundings.

There is a café/bistro in Cairnryan, a hotel 1.5 miles away, and Stranraer (4m) has all facilities. And if you want to take a day trip to Ireland, you could not be more perfectly placed!

Bed linen, towels and heating are all included!included. Up to two well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement but should be confined to the kitchen/dining room. Smoking is not permitted in the cottage. A householder's deposit of £100 will be required on arrival, refundable at the end of your stay.
