Sleeping 6

Glen Lonan is just 14 miles from Oban (all facilities) and here, in a beautiful hillside setting stands Josephine's Wing, a self-contained part of a delightful, large, traditional, whitewashed country house with wonderful views of Ben Cruachan and the Glen Etive hills. At the back of the house there is a tidily gravelled farmyard while the front has beautifully landscaped gardens (furniture) – all in all, the perfect holiday home for a family

Inside, the house is bright and spacious and care has been taken with the refurbishment to ensure the comforts of modern living. The sitting room, with open fire, is full of light, thanks to windows back and front, and there is a very large farmhouse style dining kitchen. The accommodation upstairs is designed to cater for different needs having two double and two single bedrooms. There is a bathroom and a separate shower room.

The single track road which twists and turns through Glen Lonan is the main road to Oban and so is excellent for cycling while the Glen itself offers walkers many possibilities. Guests are free to explore the woodland garden which stands on the other side of the road from the house. The village of Taynuilt (3m) has a hotel, PO, a very good shop and a butcher. A mile further on is Loch Etive where there are facilities for boating and sailing. Taynuilt also has a golf course and near Oban there is riding. The loch on the estate is available for fishing by arrangement and tackle can be hired. The estate hires out bicycles too. Tralee Bay is a beautiful sandy beach, 10 miles away, on the other side of the Connel Bridge at Ledaig. Two miles further on at Barcaldine you have a Sealife and Seal Rescue Centre. If you continue driving north you will reach Ballachulish and the gateway to Glencoe, while from there Fort William and the Road to the Isles are only an hour's drive away.

The town of Oban is a rail terminal and ferry centre with regular boat trips to Mull, Staffa, Iona and ferry services to many of the Hebridean islands.

Heating is by oil fired central heating (included!included) and open fire. Bed linen is included!included and towels may be hired. One well-behaved pet is welcome by arrangement but must be kept under control (Barguillean is a sheep and cattle farm). Spring water supply.
