Josephine's Wing, Glen Lonan, Taynuilt, Scotland

Josephine's Wing
Glen Lonan
Taynuilt

Sleeping 6

In a wonderful situation on a hillside in peaceful Glen Lonan, just 14 miles from Oban (all facilities), and with beautiful views of Ben Cruachan and the hills of Glen Etive, Josephine's Wing is a charming and spacious, traditional, whitewashed country house. With the neat gravelled farmyard to the rear, and lovely landscaped gardens to the front (furniture) it is an ideal base for a family holiday.

Josephine's Wing The house itself is light and roomy and has been carefully modernised to provide all modern comforts. The bright sitting room, with windows to front and rear, has an open fire and there is a huge farmhouse dining kitchen. Upstairs, the bedroom accommodation, with a double, two singles and a bunk/twin room, coupled with a bathroom and a separate shower room, is versatile enough to suit many party configurations.

The view from Josephine's Wing The winding single track road through Glen Lonan is, in fact, the 'back road' to Oban, and is ideal for cycling, while the glen provides many walking opportunities. Just across the road from the house is a woodland garden, to which tenants have access. Taynuilt, 3 miles away, has a hotel, PO, a really excellent general store and a butcher, and just a mile beyond is Loch Etive, where there is boating and sailing. There is a golf course at Taynuilt and riding near Oban. The estate also has a fishing loch which can be available by arrangement and tackle may be hired. Cycles can also be hired on the estate. There is an fine sandy beach at Tralee Bay, about 10 miles away across the Connel Bridge at Ledaig, a Sealife and Seal Rescue Centre just a couple of miles beyond that at Barcaldine. Continuing north on that road, you will come to Ballachulish and the entrance to Glencoe, while Fort William and the Road to the Isles is little more than an hour's drive away.

Oban itself needs little introduction as the gateway to the Highlands and Islands, with a rail terminal and ferries and boat trips departing from there to Mull, Staffa, Iona, and many of the other islands.

Heating is by oil fired central heating (included!included) and open fire. Bed linen is included!included and towels may be hired. One well-behaved pet is welcome by arrangement but must be kept under control (Barguillean is a sheep and cattle farm). Spring water supply.
