Mossbrae Cottage

Mossbrae

Mossbrae Cottage is a detached cottage standing on rising ground at the side of small glen lined with fir-trees where the Dodhead Burn tumbles down to join the Ettrick Water. It faces across grassland, through the trees (you can smell the pines), to bracken-strewn hills where deer and red-squirrels can occasionally be seen. There is a wealth of birds, and lovely walking in all directions.

In the immediate surroundings, in addition to the wooded glen to the front, from the back and side of the cottage there are magnificent views down the valley and the north-west facing garden is just perfect for sitting out on a fine summer evening and watching the sun go down behind the hills. The caretakers' cottage is its only neighbour.

Inside, Mossbrae has been comprehensively and charmingly refurbished by its owners, and is bright, cosy and most comfortable, with efficient electric heating and an open fire in the sitting room.
