Hope Park West
Coldstream
Berwickshire
Scotland

Sleeping 6 (7), bedrooms 4

Hope Park West is a charming traditional, stone-built listed property standing in secluded, tree-ringed gardens and reached by a private drive located a few minutes walk of the centre of the peaceful Borders town of Coldstream (shops, restaurants, pubs).

The gardens are enclosed and safe for children, with lawns for them to play on and a pleasant patio for parents to sit. Inside, the centrally-heated accommodation is most comfortably appointed. The large, bright sitting room overlooks both the rear courtyard (parking) and the front garden and the two single, twin and double bedrooms (plus bathroom and separate shower room) make it a versatile property for parties of assorted friends and family members! Coldstream, perhaps best known for giving its name to the Coldstream Guards (there is a museum in the town), is the most easterly of the inland Border towns, sitting right on the Border on the river Tweed (excellent fishing).

Drive

It is easily reached from the main A1 trunk road and a fast cross-country route means that Edinburgh (47m) is accessible in just over an hour. The coast, with fine beaches at Coldingham (25m), historic Bamburgh (26m) and Lindisfarne with its medieval castle and Priory (25m), is within easy reach. At the little fishing village of St. Abbs, (26m) there are superb cliff top walks to see the huge seabird colonies at the RSPB Reserve and also a Diving Centre. (St Abbs is reckoned to be one of the best cold-water diving sites in Europe). Further to the north, there are the excellent championship golf courses around Dunbar (33m), while less ambitious players can take advantage of the many good and inexpensive 9 hole courses in the area. There are riding stables at Kimmerston near Millfield Just outside Coldstream there are delightful gardens at The Hirsel Country Park, the seat of the Douglas-Homes.

Hope Park is also well situated for exploring the Borderland with its rich history, stately homes, castles and abbeys, and its beautiful, tranquil countryside which is ideal for walking and cycling. The pretty town of Kelso (shops, pubs, restaurants, Floors Castle, swimming pool, ice rink and racecourse) is only 9 miles distant and from there a short drive brings the visitor first to one and then another of the small and characterful towns of Jedburgh, Melrose, Selkirk and Peebles. Within a few miles to the south there is the Northumberland National Park, with ample scope for walking, wildlife-watching, picnics etc.

Heating is by gas CH and open-fire, electricity is included!included. Bed-linen and towels are included!included. Pets welcome by arrangement. No smoking allowed within the house. There is a camp bed available for hire. Please note, there is a extra charge of £25 for the seventh person.
