Etive Cottage
Glencoe Village
Argyll
Scotland

Sleeping 4

Etive Cottage is a neat little house standing in the one-street village of Glencoe, in the West Highlands of Scotland 15 miles south of FortWilliam and at the end of the infamous glen of the same name. The cottage is detached and sits within its private garden laid to grass and gravel. It is ideally and centrally situated for those visitors who come to this magnificent wilderness to climb, to walk or just to relax in such superb surroundings.

The interior has been totally refurbished. It is comfortably and cosily furnished and has a very good kitchen with separate dining room and a welcoming sitting room.

With its central location Etive is an excellent base for exploring some of the most beautiful parts of the West Coast of Scotland. In Fort William you can climb Ben Nevis, at Corpach you can walk along the final locks of the Caledonian Canal, or you can travel the Road to the Isles past Arisag and Morar to Mallaig (60m) where there is a ferry across to Skye. Alternatively, there is the Corran Ferry (booking not necessary) over to Ardnamurchan. There you can either drive on to the most westerly point in mainland Britain or turn left before Strontian and continue down to Lochaline and the ferry over to Mull. Oban is only 38 miles to the south and is the embarkation point for ferries to Mull and several of the smaller islands.

The Ice Wall at Kinlochleven (7m) will test your climbing skills and for walkers/hikers the last stage of the West Highland Way passes through there. Cuil (10m) has an excellent beach and at Lettershuna (16m) riding is available.

There is a shop in the village and several eateries and hotels are to be found in the nearby area. The Bistro at the Ballachulish Hotel (3m), in particular, has a good reputation. Ballachulish also has a golf course.

Heating is by electric storage heaters. Electricity and bed linen are included!included and towels may be hired. Sorry, no pets.
