Etive Cottage is a trim little house which stands in the main and only street of the little West Highland village of Glencoe, at the end of the immortal glen of the same name, 15 miles south of Fort William. Detached and standing in its own grass and gravel garden, it is a most convenient base for those who come to this lovely area to climb, to walk, or simply to enjoy a relaxing holiday in such impressive surroundings.

Inside, it has been completely refurbished and is simply and comfortably furnished, with an excellent modern kitchen, separate dining room and cosy sitting room.

Etive is also a superb base for those who wish to explore some of the loveliest parts of West Coast Scotland. From Fort William, you can climb Ben Nevis, walk along the final locks of the Caledonian Canal at Corpach, or take the Road to the Isles past Arisaig and Morar to Mallaig, (60m) where you can catch the ferry over to Skye. Or head across the Corran Ferry (no booking necessary) to Ardnamurchan, where you can continue to the westernmost point of mainland Britain or turn left before Strontian and head down to Lochaline to catch the ferry to Mull. To the south, Oban is only 38 miles distant, and from there you can take boat trips to Mull or several of the smaller islands.

Seven miles away at Kinlochleven is the Ice Wall, where you can test your skill. The West Highland Way also passes through there on its last stage up to Fort William. There is a good beach 10 miles away at Cuil and riding 16 miles away at Lettershuna, Appin.

The village has a shop and there is a choice of eating places and hotels in the surrounding area. The Bistro at the Ballachulish Hotel (3m) is particularly well thought of. There is a golf course at Ballachulish too.

Heating is by electric storage heaters. Electricity and bed linen are included and towels may be hired. One well behaved pet is welcome by arrangement.
