The Duck House at Tamano, Perthshire.
Sleeps 6
Cleverly designed about 10 years ago within the attractive stone walls and arches of a former Victorian coach-house (it once housed the owners' ducks), the Duck House is part of a rather grand farm-steading which in former times also housed some stables and a blacksmith's forge. It stands one mile up the Tamano farm road (some potholes) off the B8033 just 7 miles north of Dunblane in Perthshire and 3 miles south of Braco - easily reached via the Edinburgh Stirling Perth Motorway.
Inside the arched entrance, the Duck House gives the impression of an almost Scandinavian open-plan gallery with its delicate colours, pale woodwork, clean-cut spacious interior which is light and airy from the large windows, and pleasantly warmed by background CH, a log stove, and the homely touch of books, pictures and a radio.
It faces across a peaceful wooded countryside towards the Ochil Hills whose green horizons hide The Kingdom of Fife on the far side; and as well as offering a comfortable and restful retreat (there is even a stone seat by the duck pond to sit and dream by), there are pleasant un-taxing walks (foxes and deer occasionally seen) - and it is absolutely ideal for visitors to Scotland since it is so very central for exploring all of Perthshire, Edinburgh, Stirling, The Trossachs, The Cairngorms, most of the famous Lochs, and Oban, etc., etc. There are shops and plenty of restaurants within easy driving distance.
