This is indeed the last frontier before America! Dalmore is a small community on the west coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides an island of wild, elemental beauty, wide empty moorland and some of the most glorious beaches on the planet, which you are quite likely to have all to yourself.

If this sounds like your sort of place, but if you would prefer to enjoy it from a position of warmth and comfort, then Dalmore Cottage is for you. This attractive, detached cottage stands in its own grounds, just a few minutes' drive from one such beach. Efficiently heated by oil central heating, fully double glazed and with an open fire for cosy, relaxing evenings, it is a most comfortable billet all year round.

Inside, it is attractively decorated and furnished like the beloved family home it is, with, in addition to the comfortable sitting room, a well equipped dining kitchen, two good bedrooms and bathroom.

The nearby beach is famous with surfers and from there, you can take a magnificent walk along the cliffs to the Garenin Blackhouse Village, where there is a restaurant and a working blackhouse.

The island has been inhabited since prehistoric times and is rich in archaeological remains. One of the most famous, the Callanish Standing Stones are just 6 miles from the cottage. The Doune broch is only three miles distant and at Doune there is also a hotel. Carloway has a tweed mill and a very special designer producing exclusive Harris Tweed products.

To the north, there are more fishing lochs than you can shake a stick at, another tweed mill and at Barvas (10m) there is a shop, cafe and gallery. Up by the tip of the island at Europaidh, there is a beach which is superb for children and another restaurant. For major shopping, Stornoway, the island's capital is 24 miles away.

Dalmore Cottage is a perfect place to chill, to walk, to fish, to birdwatch and provides the setting for a truly unforgettable holiday.

Heating is by oil-CH and open fire. Bed linen, towels and electricity are all included. Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted within the cottage.
