Sleeping 8

Bracken House is located in Diabaig, a small, scattered village on the shore of Loch Diabaig on Scotland's dramatic north west coast, 115 miles north of Fort William and 70 west of Inverness. 9 miles away lies the village of Torridon, well-known to climbers and hillwalkers for the 7 Munros which rise behind it.

Standing at the end of the little single track road the house enjoys an atmosphere of complete peace and quiet. The building itself, set within a garden laid to grass, is modern, and the interior is delightfully furnished and well appointed. Sitting at the large front windows you will have superb views across the loch and will be enthralled by the continually moving sky and seascape. The sun room at the front of the house has been built to take full advantage of the views and is the perfect place for relaxing with a glass of wine and watching the sunsets. The spacious lounge incorporates a dining area and has a wood-burning stove. A second sitting room doubles as a TV room. This house offers larger parties plenty of space to spread.

Upstairs two king-size double bedrooms (one en suite) and a bunk bedroom all share the wonderful views of the bay. There are two additional bathrooms and, on the ground floor, a twin bedroom.

This is a paradise for walkers. If you don't wish to tackle a Munro there are superb walks right outside your door such as the seven mile hike along the coast from Diabaig to Redpoint with magnificent views across to Raasay, the Cuillin mountains and the Applecross peninsula on a clear day. Wildlife lovers can keep an eye out for eagles, buzzards and even the rare pine marten.

Should you wish to venture further the pretty village of Shieldaig is worth a visit as is the road round the coast of the Applecross peninsula. In the opposite direction you can drive along the shore of Loch Maree to the sub-tropical gardens at Poolewe. There is a golf course at Gairloch (37m).

The closest shop and hotel are at Torridon.

Heating is by electricity and wood burning stove. Bed linen and towels are included!included. Up to two well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. Sorry, no smoking in the house
