Ashintully Castle Cottage
Blairgowrie
Perthshire
Sleeping 4
This appealing stone built, south-facing cottage is set within the attractive grounds of Ashintully Castle, midway (15 miles) between Pitlochry and Blairgowrie in Perthshire, and 3 miles from the village of Kirkmichael (pub, restaurant, general store, riding). Now fully refurbished, it is a careful blend of traditional comforts and chic style, with all modern conveniences.
You can relax in the cosy sitting room and enjoy a blue ray DVD on the flat screen television, or listen to your favourite music using the iPod dock, whilst being warmed by the heat of the wood burning stove. Through the spacious hallway, complete with payphone is the modern kitchen which has space for dining. Across the yard is the 'Long Room' with further blue ray television and play facilities, well heated by another wood burner. The upstairs of the cottage is equally as welcoming, with two good size twin bedrooms and a newly refurbished bathroom. There is a tennis court to which guests have access, and, across the yard, the Long Room offers another blue ray wide screen television and additional play facilities, well heated by another wood burner.
One mile up a private drive off a quiet side-road, Ashintully Castle Cottage stands at the side of the ancient stone Castle which dates back to the 1500's and boasts three ghosts. As well as having use of the tennis court, guests are welcome to enjoy the other activities available in the grounds, including fishing in the nearby lochs, and exploring the 3,000 acres on their doorstep, which is rich with history and legend. In the 16th and 17th century, the Estate was the site of murder and mayhem, and 'Duncan's Pool' which sits within the grounds is supposedly where one of the murders took place! Nowadays it is hard to imagine that such treachery took place in an area of such peace, tranquillity and outstanding natural beauty.
As well as offering such possibilities in its immediate surroundings, Ashintully Castle Cottage makes an excellent base from which guests can explore Royal Deeside, The Fife Coast, St. Andrews, or the many attractions of The Cairngorms and the Scottish Highland countryside.
Heating is by wood-burner (logs provided), and electricity (
included). Bed-linen and towels are
