Aber Spey Cottage
Kingston on Spey
Fochabers
Sleeping 4
The Moray coast in the north east of Scotland is well known as the sunniest part of Scotland. It is here, just a stone's throw from the shore in the little village of Kingston on Spey, that you will find Aber Spey Cottage, a comfortable holiday cottage standing in its own enclosed and south facing garden with outdoor seating area and a sun porch for less clement times.
Inside, there is a newly fitted kitchen, a sitting room with wood burning stove, and a further small snug.
There is a pub serving excellent meals and a shop just 10 minutes walk from the cottage along a picturesque path, with a golf course and RSPB nature reserve also within walking distance of the house. Children will doubtless make straight for the shore, to scramble up the huge palisade of stones and down again to the water's edge. (Sandy beaches are to be found a little further to the west.) Looking out to sea, you may see dolphins and seals, which are regular visitors to the area, and there is a Whale and Dolphin Conservation Visitor Centre just across the estuary at Spey Bay.
For walkers, the Speyside way offers a delightful mix of coastal, mountain and riverside scenery and the odd tot of whisky as well, while the National Cycle network has good trails in the area. The river Spey will be well-known to fishermen, and there is also white water canoeing on the neighbouring rivers.
Heating is by electricity and open fire (first £15 of electricity and starter pack of logs
included). Bed linen and towels are
